Avocados are one of the healthiest foods you can eat. They are an excellent source of monounsaturated fatty acids, which have been shown to support heart health.
According to one study, a diet rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (with avocado as the primary source) and low in saturated fats reduced plasma total cholesterol levels and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels (*).
Researchers concluded that avocados and a high monounsaturated fatty acid diet can help patients avoid hyperlipidemia.
Avocado is a good source of fiber. In fact, most of the carbs found in an avocado come from fiber. Research shows that the fiber in avocado can help keep you fuller and more satisfied at breakfast when compared to a high-carb meal (*). It can also help stabilize blood sugar levels. Additionally, hunger suppression can lead to decreased calorie consumption and better weight loss at the end of the day.
