What is allulose?
If you look into the table of the nutritional information you can see that we have listed the amount of allulose in the cereal and we have excluded it from the total amount of carbs. So, naturally, you may be wondering what is allulose exactly and why is it excluded?
Allulose, often called D-Allulose or D-Psicose is a rare low-calorie monosaccharide that is found in small amounts in some fruits. It can also be produced from fructose, but it is very costly. It contains from 0.2 kcal to 0.4 kcal per gram and it has 70% of the sweetness of table sugar. It has many similarities to table sugar such as a clean taste, crystallization, and the same reaction to heat- making it great for cooking.
The reason why allulose is excluded from the calories and carbs is because the body does not metabolize it into energy and it leaves the body through urine practically unchanged. The FDA has approved the exclusion of allulose from calories. (*), (*)

Can You Eat Magic Spoon Cereal On The Keto Diet?
